Alex Takagi-Stewart
Class of

Representing the City of
Redmond
Sustainability Ambassador since
Summer 2024
Alex Takagi-Stewart, a rising senior at Tesla STEM High School, is driven to learn as much as he can about incorporating sustainable practices into the Engineering Design Process. Winning multiple awards for his research in aerospace engineering at the regional and state science fairs, Alex is passionate about working toward a career in the engineering field. Along with his passion, he lives with an awareness that engineers working in any discipline must have a sustainable mindset to ensure the longevity of their productions within a healthy society. It is this awareness that drove Alex to join Sustainability Ambassadors, where he aims to develop his skills in driving behavior change in our communities. Outside of his work and education, Alex loves to spend time running, lifting weights, and playing music to maintain a healthy personal life while working to foster a healthier planet.
While Alex officially joined Sustainability Ambassadors in the summer of 2024, his work in Environmental Engineering at Tesla STEM High School involved completing many impact projects and sustainability campaigns. Impact projects Alex completed include Replacing Incandescent Bulbs, Illuminating Energy Consumption, and Tofu Time, which can be found on Sustainability Ambassadors’ impact project spreadsheet. Alex also contributed toward a Waste Management campaign, which aimed to lower contamination rates in waste bins at Tesla STEM, and an Earth Week campaign, which raised student awareness on the many ways they can have a positive impact on the environment.
