Raghav Chaturvedi

Raghav Chaturvedi (He/Him) is a 9th Grader, part of the Class of 2028 at International School, representing the city of Bellevue. He enjoys playing badminton and chess, and exploring the outdoors. Raghav can be found biking, hiking, and on rainy days, watching football, soccer, or cricket games with his signature commentary. He is the treasurer of his school’s Chess Club, and a member of International’s Varsity Chess Team. His journey with Sustainability Ambassadors began in the winter of 2023, upon learning about its exceptional training and community impact from his mother. Since then, he has also been involved with the Bellevue Youth Link Council, to widen his outreach to a greater and varied audience. As a Sustainability Ambassador, he has spoken at the Bellevue City Council Budget Hearing, and kept the importance of Climate Action in front of them. He has urged the Council to do everything in their power, to step up the pace of action on the Environmental Stewardship Plan. As for his school, he has implemented different campaigns, like Turn Off the Lights Day and Carbon Commute Count. These both aimed to identify and lower his school’s energy usage and carbon emissions. Another contribution of his has been serving on the Bellevue School District’s Sustainability Committee, to pull the best ideas from the existing plans of other school districts. He has a personal carbon footprint of 10 metric tons per year, and a water footprint of 1,233 gallons per day. Although these numbers are roughly 35% less than the US average, they are still big, and show room for improvement. Doing his part in conserving the environment, he has started his work on lowering these figures by taking shorter showers, and inspiring his household to use green cleaning products. As for his parents' contribution, they have been driving electric cars, and have installed solar panels for almost 12 years now. Lastly, Raghav only shops for basics and is a healthy eater, promoting the same along with zero food wastage. Joining hands with Sustainability Ambassadors, he hopes to create a greener environment, and inspire others to follow suit.
