About the Event
Participants will be immersed in a series of PBL lesson frameworks as follows: (1) the double whammy of winter floods and summer droughts from climate impacts in our bioregion; (2) water systems resilience planning in the face of a major earthquake, (3) harvesting rain and designing Net Zero Water buildings, (4) analyzing neighborhood-scale green stormwater infrastructure solutions, (5) maximizing the benefits of resource recycling from the wastewater treatment process including clean water, clean energy, and soil amendments, and (6) an analysis of water equity issues and how our personal water footprint has systemic implications everywhere. The Lab convenes teachers, student leaders, and subject matter experts from industry, government, and nonprofit sectors to ensure a rich learning exchange applying the disciplines of STEM, Social Studies, and Common Core to solve current water challenges and imagine a clean water future.
