My City is Leaking - Fix a Leak Series

Ten houses on my block? One hundred thousand gallons wasted. Ten thousand houses in my city? One hundred million gallons wasted. An average household has leaks that can waste around ten thousand gallons of water every year, and these leaks can waste more than 1 trillion gallons annually nationwide (EPA). That's equal to the household water use of more than 11 million homes each year.

What's going on? The King County-Cities Climate Collaboration— everyone in the collaborative calls it the K4C— has a Climate Action Toolkit. This toolkit outlines strategies to reduce King County's greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in 2030 and by 80% in 2050, and their number-one strategy is to "improve energy efficiency in existing buildings and homes" (K4C). How can K4C achieve its goal with a leaking city?
